In the liminal space, the protagonist's obsessions are sedimented. Surprisingly, fragments of childhood flashbacks occupy the vast majority—the first swan-shaped ride they ever took, the handheld game console they couldn't put down as a child—all become the most visible floating objects in this threshold realm. In contrast, the adult world appears drab and gray, with the crumbling steel forest beneath their feet constantly bearing witness to this reality for the investigator.
